We’re looking for a Software Engineer with fluent Mandarin Chinese to join an international IoT project.
In this role, you’ll work closely with a firmware engineering team based in China and the Akvelon software team, helping bridge technical communication, align expectations, and support the delivery of agreed project outcomes.
What matters most is a solid software or firmware engineering foundation, the ability to understand technical discussions, and strong communication skills in Chinese.
What you’ll do
• Act as a technical communication bridge between the software team and the firmware engineering team in China
• Help clarify technical requirements, expectations, and agreed deliverables
• Participate in discussions and reviews related to firmware–software integration
• Work with interfaces and communication protocols between firmware and software
• Contribute to code reviews and help ensure good engineering practices are followed
• Support effective collaboration and help keep deliverables aligned with the agreed plan
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and code review oversight
• Help teams align on engineering standards and production-ready solutions
What we’re looking for
• Native Mandarin Chinese — essential for daily technical communication with the team in China
• Good English for working in an international environment
• A software or firmware engineering background
• Good understanding of general software engineering fundamentals and practices, including Git, OOP, code quality, configuration/parameters vs. hardcoding, and code reviews
• Experience with interfaces and protocols between firmware and software, such as defining interface/protocol specifications, MQTT, Protobuf, DNS/networking, or similar technologies
• Ability to understand technical problems, communicate them clearly, and collaborate effectively with engineering teams
• Based in Moldova
Nice to have:
• Experience with firmware development for IoT devices, such as sensors, home automation, or connected devices
• Embedded C/C++ or RTOS experience
• Experience with Node.js, React, or React Native
• Previous experience working with engineering teams in China
• Code review, technical ownership, coordination, or Lead/SiC experience
• Experience with SDLC, CI/CD, and release engineering processes
