We are looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to join a team building core capabilities for a large-scale cloud data platform.
Responsibilities:
- design and implement data lakehouse components and related platform integrations
- contribute to support for complex data types, metadata-driven functionality, and distributed processing features
- work hands-on on integrations related to storage, security, encryption, and data governance
- develop and improve batch and streaming data processing capabilities
- participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, technical planning, and blocker resolution
- collaborate with internal and external engineering stakeholders on technical alignment and dependencies
- ensure code quality, integration testing, documentation, and timely delivery of features
Requirements:
- 5+ years of full-time, hands-on professional software development experience
- strong hands-on experience with Java
- working experience with Python
- experience with Google Cloud Platform and related cloud data services
- experience with data processing, data engineering, or large-scale distributed data systems
- experience with Data Lake / Lakehouse architecture
- good understanding of streaming and batch processing patterns
- ability to contribute in a senior hands-on role with some level of technical leadership
Nice to have:
- experience with Flink, Kafka, or Spark
- experience with Apache Iceberg
- experience with cross-system and platform integrations
- experience contributing to or collaborating with open-source communities
Overlap: daily partial overlap with PST working hours.
