Our client is a well-known social media platform that fosters online communities and user-generated content. The team is responsible for one of the highest traffic pages on the platform: the Comments page. We strive to ensure the comment consumption experience is intuitive and delightful for all users. This is a high impact role where you will drive related technical and product strategy, operations, architecture, and execution for one of the largest sites in the world.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with product managers, designers, and other engineering stakeholders to translate business strategies into innovative features and user-focused solutions.
- Drive the entire software development lifecycle, including system architecture, technical design, coding, automated testing, experimentation, performance analysis, deployment, and post-launch optimization.
- Review and provide feedback on code, design documentation, product specifications, and UI/UX mockups to ensure high-quality deliverables and technical excellence.
- Collaborate in an agile, fast-moving environment with a team of dedicated and motivated engineers to achieve project goals on time and at scale.
- Establish, document, and advocate for engineering best practices, coding standards, and development workflows to improve team efficiency and maintainability.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, offering technical coaching, career development support, and knowledge-sharing to build team capability.
- Continuously research and adopt emerging technologies, tools, and methodologies to enhance technical solutions and improve both personal and team effectiveness.
- Actively contribute to building a strong engineering culture based on collaboration, innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional experience developing software, with a strong focus on front-end engineering.
- Proficiency in JavaScript (ES6) and TypeScript, with deep knowledge of modern front-end ecosystems.
- Strong expertise in HTML5, CSS, and responsive layout design for cross-device and cross-browser compatibility.
- Hands-on experience with A/B testing, experimentation frameworks, and implementing analytics solutions.
- Proven track record working with modern front-end frameworks and libraries such as React, Vue, Angular, Lit, or Polymer.
- Solid understanding of APIs and protocols, including GraphQL, REST, HTTP, and familiarity with Thrift basics.
- Experienced with distributed caching layers (e.g., Redis, Memcached) and distributed large-scale storage systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and deliver on schedule.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with other web engineers and cross-functional partners, including product managers and designers.
- Commitment to engineering best practices: feature flagging, data-driven development, writing and reviewing design docs, conducting code reviews, and building scalable solutions.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Entrepreneurial mindset: self-directed, innovative, and biased toward action in fast-paced environments; comfortable building new solutions and thriving in ambiguity or failure.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to discuss complex technical topics with both technical and non-technical audiences, and collaborate effectively in a fully remote environment.
