About the role: we are seeking a skilled Python / Data Engineer with a strong background in object-oriented software development and data engineering. In this role, you will build and maintain a core library for the Data Science organization, integrating with key technologies like BigQuery (BQ), Airflow, and Reticle. You will also focus on performance optimization and collaborate with a diverse team to drive impactful solutions.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience in object-oriented software development, with a focus on Python.
- Hands-on experience with Airflow, BigQuery SQL, and Python libraries like Pandas.
- Familiarity with data engineering tools and frameworks, including BQ Terraform.
- Proven experience in creating and maintaining software libraries.
- Strong understanding of performance optimization techniques.
- Ability to work autonomously and take initiative in defining goals and solutions.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Experience in data science and machine learning domains.
- Strong communication and leadership skills to nurture a community of contributors.
- Ability to translate complex data engineering challenges into practical solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain foundational libraries for the Data Science organization.
- Develop new features and enhance existing functionalities to support data engineering workflows.
- Ensure seamless integration with BigQuery (BQ), Airflow, and Reticle.
- Optimize the performance of libraries to handle large-scale data efficiently.
- Play a key role in defining the long-term roadmap and ensuring the library’s longevity.
- Foster and lead a community of contributors within the Data Science organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-leverage, data-driven insights.
- Act as a developer, tech lead, and product manager, contributing to strategic initiatives.
