We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with deep expertise in Python and a passion for practical AI-enhanced development.
About the Project
The project focuses on building software systems for managing and optimizing operations in global port and intermodal logistics. The platform helps coordinate complex workflows, process large volumes of operational data in real time, and support efficient decision-making across terminal operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement the core logic of the ShiftSim service in a Python.
- Develop the discrete-event simulation framework capable of modeling move execution over time.
- Integrate and manage real or hypothetical configurations and apply configurable timing rules to the simulation models.
- Manage and optimize data storage for simulation inputs (configurations, rules) and outputs (results, performance logs) using PostgreSQL.
- Demonstrate strong ownership and self-sufficiency by driving tasks end-to-end, maintaining high productivity, and proactively solving complex technical challenges.
- Ensure the service accurately models key operational aspects, such as equipment movement, task allocation, and resource contention.
- Collaborate with the frontend team to define and deliver the necessary data structures and APIs for Unity-based UI visualization of simulation findings.
- Optimize the simulation engine for speed and accuracy to enable fast turnaround on complex scenarios.
- Write unit, integration, and performance tests to ensure the reliability and validity of simulation results.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and planning for new features and improvements.
- Troubleshoot and resolve performance and accuracy issues within the simulation models.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of professional experience in software development
- Strong proficiency in Python
- Experience in designing the system from scratch and gathering requirements
- Familiarity with service-oriented architecture (SOA) or microservices.
- Hands-on experience with relational databases, specifically PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization.
- Strong communication skills, including clear reasoning and asking relevant questions.
Nice to have:
- Experience in designing or working with simulation software, especially discrete-event simulation or dynamic modeling systems.
- Familiarity with specific discrete-event simulation frameworks such as SimPy.
- Practical experience using AI tools to improve development efficiency
- Prior experience in the logistics, port terminal, or supply chain domain
